02/26/2009 - Indianapolis, IN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The 24th-ranked Butler Bulldogs can clinch at least a share of the Horizon League regular-season title with a win over the Youngstown State Penguins this evening.
Youngstown State has won five of its last six games to move to 11-16 overall and 7-9 in conference. The Penguins are fresh off a 68-64 victory over Saint Peter's in a non-league affair, and they hope to improve their 4-8 record in true road games.
Don't expect a victory to come easily, however, as Butler is 12-1 at home. The Bulldogs are 13-3 in Horizon League action, a game better than second-place Wisconsin-Green Bay. Butler had lost back-to-back games for the first time in over three years, but the club got back to its winning way with a 75-63 triumph over Davidson in a BracketBuster tilt on Saturday.
It should be mentioned that Butler recorded a 79-71 victory over Youngstown State back in early December, and the Bulldogs have won 15 of the 17 all-time meetings with the Penguins.
Vytas Sulskis scored 18 points for Youngstown State in the victory over Saint Peter's on Saturday. The Penguins also got 13 points apiece from DeAndre Mays and Tom Parks, while Sirlester Martin pulled down 12 rebounds. YSU only connected on 37.9 percent of its field goal attempts in the tilt, but the club earned a 41-29 rebounding advantage, including a 16-7 edge on the offensive glass. Also, the Penguins only turned the ball over nine times. Kelvin Bright leads YSU in scoring this season with 11.8 ppg, although his 38.2 percent shooting from the field is far from impressive. Mays adds 11.1 ppg, and Sulksis provides 10.0 ppg for the Penguins, who are netting 66.6 ppg while allowing 68.5 ppg.
Butler figured to have its hands full with Davidson's star guard Stephen Curry on Saturday. Curry did score 20 points in that clash, but he was limited to 6- of-23 shooting from the floor. The Bulldogs also forced 19 turnovers in the tilt and earned a 20-13 edge in points from the foul line. Gordon Hayward was sensational for Butler, as he tallied 27 points and nine rebounds. Matt Howard pitched 12 points, and Willie Veasley added 10 points. Overall this season, Howard is scoring a team-high 14.0 ppg to go along with 7.0 rpg and 44 blocked shots. Hayward provides 13.9 ppg, and Shelvin Mack checks in with 12.0 ppg and 94 assists. The Bulldogs are scoring 68.3 ppg this season while limiting opponents to 57.5 ppg on 37.8 percent field goal efficiency.

Brandon Roy Favorite to Win 2007 NBA Rookie of the Year
Portland TrailBlazer’s guard, Brandon Roy, is MySportsbook.com’s overwhelming favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year odds.
Despite missing 20 games due to an injury earlier this season, Roy has definitely put up the best numbers of his 1st year peers. In 32 games, Roy is averaging 15.3 PPG, 4.2 boards and 3.5 assists in over 33 minutes of play per game. While most rookies breakdown as the season progresses (see Morrison), Roy is only getting stronger as his playing time and scoring average has increased each month.
With 30 or so games left in the regular season, Roy isn’t a lock for the award by any means. Other rookies are putting together some pretty impressive campaigns and a few could give Roy a run for the award with increased playing time. Heading the list is first pick, Andrea Bargnani of the Toronto Raptors. Even though he has started only two games all season, Bargnani is averaging 10.3 PPPG while shooting 35% from deep.
Randy Foye of the Minnesota Timberwolves could be set to give Roy the best competition NBA Rookie of the Year betting lines. With the benching of Mike James, Foye looks like he could be the starter in the T-Wolves backcourt for the rest of the season. So far, Foye has averaged 9 PPG and 2.4 assists in just under 21 minutes per game. With his new role of starter, Foye’s numbers will definitely increase. In his first game as the new starting guard this past Sunday, Foye had 10 points; five rebounds and 8 assists. More importantly, he logged 34 minutes of playing time; his third highest run of the season.
Adam Morrison, of the Charlotte Bobcats, was the favorite early on in the season after averaging 15+ PPG through the first month of the season. Ever since his torrid start, Morrison’s point production has declined each month. This really isn’t surprising, considering at 6’8” he only weighs 205 lbs. Obviously he will need to hit the weights big time during the off-season in order to keep from breaking down in the future.
